The system created to protect her didn't.
Aanya Mukherjee walked into her freshman year the way most kids do: nervous, hopeful, ready. Unfortunately, what she walked into instead was relentless bullying and harassment. She tried speaking up, working with the school counselor, and school administration. The response was radio silence. By 11th grade, the structure that was supposed to support her had quietly failed. Aanya was forced to leave her school, not because she did anything wrong, but because the adults around her chose comfort over courage.
Since then, she founded BYF, originally with UK partners Isaure and Sabrina before branching off to build her US organization. She now works as the Executive Director and Founder of Buy Yourself Flowers.
